The world seems to be struggling with a shortage of toilet paper and the grocery shelves here in Los Angeles are often missing staples like pasta, rice, and beans. Everyone is buying up supplies and hunkering down for their stay at home orders. Though many delivery grocery services are booked solid at the moment, we’ve been thrilled to see that a lot on Amazon still seems to be stocked so we put together a silly list of coronavirus “must haves” that we’ve ordered lately.
Board Games & Puzzles
Family game night is a great way to get social interaction with people who you’ve been with all day. Our favorite games lately are Zip-It, Azul, and Carcassonne (all great for two players!). And for a fun new age twist, host a virtual game night with friends across town, we recommend Ticket to Ride or Quiplash.
Kindle & Audible Titles
Though we love to read physical books, the ability to buy and read books in electronic and audio formats has created a wonderful tactic for decluttering for us. We also love the instant gratification of getting the title delivered instantly. With the extra time at home, we’ve both been tackling our reading lists and trying to eliminate too much extra screen time. We love that Audible has made their children’s library free for young listeners who are out of school and stuck at home.
Hot Sauce
Getting tired of the same food over and over again already? Spice things up by adding sauces and spices. We love Sriracha, Thai red chili paste, Cholula, and Nando’s Peri Peri sauces. For lots of spicy food inspiration, we both have The Srircha Cookbook and love trying recipes from it.
Beach Chairs, etc.
It can be much harder to fit outside time in when you are stuck at home. Laura is lucky enough to have a backyard, and Stella has a lovely second story deck — we’ve both been trying to up our furniture game in our outdoor spaces to entice us to utilize them more! We love these beach chairs, this sun protecting tent and this water table for small kids, and this storage bench.
Home Gym Supplies
We are of course big fans of yoga so we already had mats (our favorites here and here) and small sets of hand weights (like these). But if you want to really switch up your home workout, invest in a Wii Fit, spin bike, or TRX system. Check out our tips for cultivating an at-home yoga practice and our favorite online workout options of the moment.
Home Office Supplies
Having a designated work space makes a huge difference, especially when you have other family members (read: young babies) around to distract you. Make that space feel like more than your standard kitchen table or corner of your living room can really make it feel like a separate area, perfect for chugging away at your to do list. We like this chair and desk if you have the space — otherwise, try out this desktop organizer and this laptop stand that can easily be stowed away when the workday is done.
Slippers
With all the extra foot traffic at home, you really don’t want to be tracking in any more dirt than you already are. We love these (for ladies, for men) that also have rubber soles in case you do need to step outside for a minute.
Has anyone else purchased something this week to help lift your spirits? How are you doing with your work from home setup? Let us know how you’re doing and what you’ve bought in the comments!
