It’s A Thing 1.17.20

- I’ve been eating lots of oatmeal lately since it promotes breastmilk production. My current favorite combination is lightly toasted pecans (just put them on a hot pan for a few minutes), blueberries and brown sugar – YUM! Throwback to this old post that we wrote all about oatmeal and Laura’s post on lactation muffins.
- My new favorite grocery hack is utilizing Walmart grocery pick up. It’s a lifesaver with a new baby! I can pick out everything via the app and then my husband picks up after work. It’s a huge time saver and I love that I get a fully stocked fridge and my husband can still make it home on time to see the baby before bedtime!
- I’ve been binging Power, it’s very much worth the Starz subscription. Not the best show to watch while breastfeeding/with a sleeping baby (it’s quite loud) but I love my Roku iPhone app that lets me listen via headphones to the TV.
- I was very excited to see this news story from my home state (North Carolina) about teaching personal finance in schools. I think financial literacy is so key in solving our country’s debt problems. Along the same lines, I can’t wait for this free personal finance course to launch next week!

- This was our first week of daycare for Baby Ernie and it was quite the whirlwind! So far I’m a big fan of these self-laminating labels for bottles and food containers and these clothing labels (side note: I love that L.L. Bean wants you to hand clothes down and makes that visible in their own labels!). I also recently grabbed extra sheets and an extra sleepsack to send with him.
- This is small and I think I already included it in an It’s A Thing previously, but I am super in love with these spiral/phone cord hair ties. They’ve definitely upped my ponytail and bun game in a big way!
- I’m hoping to get some time in the long holiday weekend to make I’d Rather Be Meryl’s savory skillet scones. I’ve been drooling over the recipe for weeks now.
- Last week when I was still in New Hampshire but after my husband had left early to return to work, my mother babysat for an evening while I took myself out to a movie and saw Little Women. I loved the 1994 version as a kid, and this revival did not disappoint. Especially have loved all the content around it!
- What a cool and different way to visualize the world!

Aw, you two are off to a wonderful start for 2020! It’s so fun to read of all your discoveries and your energy for the new year. I’m still playing catch-up from last year. Apparently having no kids under foot encourages me to procrastinate more LOL!!! Happy January – soon to be February! WOW!
Great post, what a fun roundup. I can’t wait to see Little Women too 🙂
