Is there a magical time when you become an adult? Moving out of your parent's house? Paying your first bill? Getting married? Having kids? Turning 30? We are still figuring it out and writing about our journey along the way!
We finally installed curtains in our new apartment and I am obsessed with just sitting and gazing out the window. This picture is from our bedroom looking out at our “yoga porch”. After a lot of research, we decided on these blackout curtains from Bed Bath and Beyond and I think they ended up being a perfect choice.
Even though my husband and I only speak English, I have been desperately trying to figure out how to teach our baby another language. My sister lives in Italy (and plans to for the foreseeable future) so our child might end up with Italian cousins and I’d love for them to be able to communicate easily. I’ve found these articles about monolingual parents teaching their kids additional languages very inspirational: (1), (2), (3).
I am heading to a wedding tomorrow and am sifting through my closet trying to figure out what still fits that is wedding guest appropriate. I am in a strange in-between place, where I’m not quite big enough for maternity clothes yet but none of my normal clothes feel quite right. I’ve narrowed it down to these two that I’ve worn to weddings simi-recently: BCBG High/Low Drape Dress (bought on Poshmark at a huge discount!) and this Amazon Midi Dress.
My husband and I both have birthday’s this month. He’s turning thirty-wonderful and I am finally hitting the big 3-0 milestone myself. We’ve settled on a dual birthday/babymoon trip to Hawaii for me and I have a few surprises up my sleeve for him 😉

An old coworker of mine recently quit her job to travel the world for a year with her husband. I am LOVING following along on their blog. They’re living out of her Subaru and their adventures already seem like a dream. I’m so jealous!
I got a new phone right when Ernie was born to upgrade to a better camera for all of the many, many(!!) baby pictures I knew I’d be taking. I opted for a refurbished iPhone X to save on cost a bit and have been pretty pleased with it so far. One thing I was not looking forward to, though, was the lack of a headphone port. I have some Bose wired headphones that I adore and having to always have an adapter on hand to use them seems a bit ridiculous. I know that wireless bluetooth headphones have been all the rage lately, but the research and brand comparisons have been keeping me away from actually investing in a pair. I finally bit the bullet last week and got these. They’re relatively inexpensive, so if I end up not liking them or losing one it won’t be the end of the world, and maybe once I get used to using them I’ll upgrade to a nicer set. (I did still grab this adapter to use, too.)
Laughed along with this week’s Pocket PMF podcast about “adulting.” They even asked “are we adults yet?” at some point during the episode! Definitely agree with the feeling of being a “theoretical adult”!
I hear ya, as far as still figuring it out–and still feeling like a kid! LOVE the drapes. Have to say, blackout drapes are miracles of designing–and sanity, with kids!
I would love to travel around and live out of a Subaru. That sounds so romantic! Actually, I am not much of a camper, so maybe the practical side of it wouldn’t be a great fit for me. I am too used to having all the comforts! 🙂
Teaching the baby another language is a wonderful idea! I used Duolingo to teach myself Italian before our trip to Italy last year. Unfortunately, after the trip, I stopped doing the app, and now I forget most of what I learned. :/
