It’s A Thing 1.25.19

- If you read last week’s “it’s a thing” you know that I spent all of last week in Italy! I flew back on Monday and after several nights back in California, I think I can safely say that I survived the whole trip without suffering from any jet lag!! I credit this mostly to my favorite homeopathic trick and a few other habits I picked up on our trip to Africa last summer.
- I’ve slowly been settling back into the California life and loving all of the fresh year-round veggies and hot yoga classes.
- Tax season is coming up and I’ve slowly started compiling a list of all of my tax forms and write-offs. I try to stay pretty organized during the year and create a tracking sheet of who I am expecting forms from in google docs to share with my husband. It’s also a good time to remember to max out your IRA!
- My husband and I booked a trip to Nashville next week but had to cancel due to work schedule. I was thrilled with how easy the process was to cancel our Southwest Flight, Priceline Rental Car and Airbnb with very minimal fees. I usually try to book refundable options when available but rarely have to use it and was thrilled it went so smoothly!
- I’ve been trying to find a better to-do list manager for everyday things and just discovered Google Keep. I’m always a fan of Google products and love how seamlessly they work together. I’m excited to give this one a try!

- My husband and I had a blast bringing our dog to Big Bear last weekend. She frolicked in the snow SO hard that she proceeded to sleep for pretty much the entire week. We had gotten her this jacket before venturing into cooler than usual temperatures; she loved it and received many compliments!
- I really enjoyed reading about how Desirae and her husband share finances. It’s something my husband and I are still working on and hammering out the details, so it’s nice to get an insiders’ look at how another couple is doing it!
- This post on The Financial Diet felt so close to home for our blog! There are so many unknowns about “adulting”… No one knows when they’re truly adults!
- I am on the hunt for rugs! We’re starting to think about nursery design and decor, and I’ve perused a bunch of options so far [1], [2], [3], [4]. TBD on a decision, suggestions welcome!
- I have a baby shower this weekend that is being hosted for me and my sister-in-law (who is pregnant with twins!!) that I’m very excited for. I think I’m going to wear this dress with a cardigan. I’ve been very much in maternity pants and tops rut, so maybe this occasion will give me a reason to explore other options!

Best post EVER guys!! For one, love the pup pics, look forward to baby pics, soon! That article from Financial Diet was great – and even at my age I still don’t feel like an adult! Travel tips were great, jealous of your veggies and I’m going to have to check out google keep! I’m getting overwhelmed with keeping things together! That dress is cute…we had the ugliest maternity outfits when I was pregnant. I remember looping hair binders around my top pants or jeans button and through the button hole and back so I could wear them longer!!
Not going to lie, I have also done the hair elastic over jeans buttons trick! It works for a while 🙂

I always thought of dressing when I was pregnant as trying to dress an egg, lol!! There’s just that point where nothing wants to stay put on that round tummy!! 🙂
