I am in my final week of the “whole food” diet. It’s very similar to Whole30, though a little less restrictive.
I am doing the diet through a nutrition and fitness program at my office and because it’s not as well known, I really struggled at the beginning to find enough foods that I could eat without being able to do a ton of research. Enter, Whole30! A few days in, I figured out that anything that qualifies for Whole30 also worked for me so I fell down the endless rabbit hole of research.
I quickly became tired of clementines (though they are a great snack choice for this diet too!). I was in desperate need of quick and easy snacks that would keep me full in between meals. I wanted a few things that I could keep in my purse/desk drawer/gym bag and not worry about them going bad.
Throughout my research, I found a few snack items that totally saved me.
RX Bars
There is a bit of a debate about these bars and if they completely count for Whole30. I decided that they worked for me and as long as I was using them in a pinch as opposed to a meal replacement or sweet treat, they worked.
I loved having these on hand for a post-workout snack and kept a few in my purse just in case I got stuck somewhere without healthy options. I think a huge key to being successful with a diet like this is to be prepared, RX Bars really helped me in this department!
The best prices that I could find were on Amazon – especially compared to buying in store! My favorite flavors were the mint chocolate and coconut chocolate.
Snack Size Almonds Packs
I love almonds so they were my go-to nut choice to have on hand as a healthy snack.
Though I love to buy things in bulk to save money, during the month that I was eating whole foods, I decided to splurge and buy the individual packs. It made it super easy to throw snack-sized amounts into my purse or gym bag for a quick pick me up.
Almond Butter and Banana
Ok, so ordering bananas online does not make sense. But there are great choices for almond butter! This was my go-to combo for many hunger emergencies.
I used this as a quick breakfast when I didn’t have time to make something more hearty. Almond butter is also a great way to set up your oatmeal game!
Epic Bites
I first discovered Epic Brand at Trader Joe’s, I think the best way to describe them is “premium jerky products” – they have both bars and bites. I found that I really liked the bites better than the bars because the texture was a little softer.
During my research, I discovered that they are much cheaper to buy via a company called Thrive Market. Thrive Market is a membership-based service that offers great prices on tons of great healthy finds. You can try it free and get an additional 20% off your first 3 orders with our link.
Epic bites are $5.99 on Thrive Market vs. $10-13 for the same sized bag on Amazon.
Cacao Nib Bites
Another great product from Thrive Market that I fell in love with was the Cacao Nib Bites. *Note – these contain honey which is not allowed on whole30 but it is ok for Paleo and I decided to allow it for myself, if you are super strict, these won’t work for you*
I used these as a treat for myself more so than a snack and ate them like a dessert. Again, that’s a bit of a stretch for the Whole30 diet, but I wanted to include these for those of you that are giving yourself a little more leeway.
Has anyone else tried the Whole30 diet? What are your favorite grab and go snacks!
I haven’t tried it but I have read a lot about Whole30! Do you think it’s sustainable long term or is it meant for shorter term goals? Can it be adapted for a more plant-based diet? Love your posts!

For me it wasn’t sustainable long term – wine and cheese bring me too much happiness to cut them forever 🙂 BUT I will say that I learned a lot of new recipes and ways to make healthy substitutions within my normal diet. So doing the challenge was a really good reset and helped set up me up for a healthier lifestyle. Thanks for reading!
RX bars totally saved me when I did Whole 30, I love them.
