It’s A Thing 3.2.18

  1. This is a really cool set of photos of how major cities would look without lights! The photo of Shanghai is my favorite, I love seeing the roads without cars.
  2. It’s Oscar’s Weekend! Which for me means lots of street closures and side hustle gigs. My favorite movie this year is The Big Sick which is nominated for best screenplay if you have not seen it yet – you can watch it free with prime!
  3. I finally ordered a new hairdryer. Mine broke many weeks ago and have been using my travel-sized for way too long. It’s only been a few weeks with the new one but I’m already super impressed by the power and heat from this new one especially given how budget friendly it is!
  4. My husband and I are finally starting to plan our honeymoon to Africa (1.5 years later….) I’ve been spending a lot of time trying to maximize our United miles and cashed out on a decent number of Chase points from our credit card to hopefully get us business class seats!

  2. My fiancĂ© and I got back from a whirlwind trip to Barcelona on Wednesday night! We really packed in the sightseeing and also ate as much as humanly possible over our 4-days in the city. Probably the highlight was our food tour with Culinary Backstreets. I thought it was such a lovely way to get introduced to parts of the city we wouldn’t normally have stumbled on. I’ve already bookmarked their main site to check for any future travels (eyeing Mexico City, Rio, and Istanbul for sure!).
  3. Super loved Root Simple’s posts this week [1], [2], about Facebook and taking some time off. I only recently got back on Facebook after over 18 months off of it and am still deciding how I feel about the platform in general…
  4. She Picks Up Pennies wrote about tracking, streaks, and how they can become habits and I so empathized. I think tracking something whether it’s steps, finance, or calories can be super helpful when it comes to forming habits. Something about just becoming a little more cognizant of those particular details in your life brings to light a whole new perspective on everything that contributes (or counteracts) to it!
