We’re huge fans of ladies nights! For our first few years in LA, our group of friends was mostly guys, which meant that our “ladies nights” ended up just being dates with each other. As we’ve gotten to know new ladies, we’ve loved using ladies night as a way to explore LA and switch up our week a bit. Our friend group is super active, so one of our favorite ways to celebrate a night out with the ladies is to do something that keeps us moving! If keeping active isn’t your thing, be sure to check out our Galentine’s Day post for more ladies night date ideas.
These are a few of our favorite date ideas for active ladies nights:
Take a Spin / Kick-box / Yoga Class
One of the easiest ways to plan an active ladies night is to take a class together. We have a huge group of friends that all have memberships at the same studio so we love to plan a class we’ll all go together. It’s fun to share our favorite instructors and classes with each other and a great excuse to get together on a weeknight!
Try a New-to-You Studio
We’re huge fans of trying a new exercise class, we love getting into new studios to try out different instructors, new flows, and switching up our routines!
So many studios offer a “first class free” promotion, which makes this is a great way to stay budget-friendly and save your money for going out to dinner after class.
Keep in mind that when you try out new spots its important to allow a bit of extra time to get situated, figure out parking, and make sure you have time to sign a waiver.
Go for a Hike
In proper LA fashion, we love weekend brunch! There are so many amazing restaurants and many with great bottomless mimosa deals. What better way to prep for your re-tox than to detox? We love to wake up early and hike one of the mountain trails, then meet up for brunch at the end. This is also great if you have a large group of ladies and only a few people want to be active. You can start with the hike for those that are interested and then everyone can meet up for brunch after.
If Los Angeles is also your home, these are a few of our favorite hikes:
- Runyon Canyon, with brunch after at Otus or Grub
- Hollywood Sign Hike, with brunch after at The Waffle or the 101 Coffee Shop
- Griffith Park Hike, with brunch after at Home or the Alcove Cafe
- The Giving Tree, with brunch after at Olive & Thyme
If you want to try something off-the-beaten-path, we highly recommend this book that’s filled with the Secret Stairs Hikes of Los Angeles.
Look Up a Local Track Meetup
Who said ladies night has to be in the evening? We love these morning workout meetups and they are usually free!
These are a few great meetups taking place around the world:
- November Project, Worldwide Locations
- Nike Running Club, US and Canada
Run a Race Together!
This is a great option if you want to do a weekly ladies-training night leading up to the big run and it’s great to have people to talk to and prep with along the way. Lots of races also offer several different runs, so you can each choose the distance that works best for you!
If running is not your thing, races are also always looking for volunteers. We’ve signed up to volunteer for a few different races, and love to use it as a way to give back to the community. Even as a volunteer, you’ll still end up getting in quite a bit of activity without committing to running a full race.
City Scavenger Hunt / Taco or Bar Crawl
Ok, so this sort of counts… it will certainly help you get your steps while you eat and drink the afternoon away.
There are always tons of Groupon deals for these types of things or if you are adventurous, you can plan your own! We love to map out a string of favorite taco spots that are within walking distance of each other and have a taco at each one. We also love that this is a dog-friendly ladies night option 🙂
